Medico-Legal Issues for General Practitioners

The Health Legal training programs are specifically designed to meet the needs of General Practitioners and individuals working in general practice.

Our training program covers:

  • Documentation : the importance of keeping good notes
  • Negligence and Duty of Care
  • The Coroner's Court and the Conduct of an Inquest
  • Consent and Informed Decision Making
  • Patient Confidentiality
  • Open Disclsure for GPs

The training modules are offered individually as short 75 minute sessions, or on a full day basis.

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners has approved this educational activity as part of the RACGP QA and CPD program.

Participants who attend the full day program can claim 40 cetagory 1 QA and CPD points.

3 QA and CPD points can be claimed for each of the Category 2 modules.

We are willing to conduct the courses in any other State/Territory or at your site, if there is sufficient interest.

For a fixed fee health services can choose between a range of interactive seminars that can be conducted at your premises.

Topics for the Seminar

We are open minded about adding further topics. Typically the sessions take  1½ hours but this can be extended or shortened depending on the preference of the audience.

You can choose whether you would like the seminars to be run separately or over a half day or full day session.

Health services can also nominate convenient dates and times for the seminars.

Who should attend the sessions

The seminars are aimed at all health professionals as well as executive staff. This includes nursing, allied health and medical staff, Risk Managers, Directors of Medical Services, Directors of Psychiatric Services, Directors of Nursing and Unit Managers. The case examples are selected specifically to suit the audience.
