Katherine Stevens

Katherine is a solicitor with Health Legal.

Katherine is a qualified nurse who attained a Juris Doctor in Law in 2007. Katherine rejoined the firm in June 2008 after spending 12 months in London and was admitted to practice in August 2009. Katherine works in both the commercial and litigation areas of our firm.


Apart from nursing in a high acuity area, Katherine was fortunate enough to work in the Nursing Education Unit of a public metropolitan health service developing policies and guidelines.

During her time in London, Katherine worked for Barclays Wealth Legal assisting the Corporate and Issues Team with the negotiation and drafting of a wide range of contracts including contracts for goods and services, software licence agreements, sponsorship agreements, and complex non-disclosure agreements. In addition, Katherine assisted in the negotiation and management of a major outsourcing project for the Bank, in a project management role.

 


Since returning to Health Legal, Katherine has assisted with matters before the Supreme Court, the County Court, the Magistrates’ Court and VCAT. She has also assisted in advising on various medico-legal issues and with the drafting of patient consent forms and policies for Health Services. In addition, Katherine has assisted with coronial investigations and inquests.

Katherine is also closely involved in managing the training Health Legal provides to health clients, and regularly provides training to nurses on medico-legal issues.


Katherine has a particular interest in medico-legal issues and bioethics.
