Claudia Hirst joined Health Legal in mid September 2010 as Executive Counsel.
Prior to joining Health Legal Claudia was the senior corporate counsel at Austin Health for eight years and as such brings a unique perspective and skill base to Health Legal.

Claudia was selected by her peers as one of Australia's Best Lawyers in the specialty of Health and Aged Care (as published in the Australian Financial Review, March 2012).

As corporate counsel, Claudia had responsibility for legal advice and management of research collaborations, including commercialisation of intellectual property, and the co-location of research institutes and other public hospitals. She has also provided oversight and advice on a large clinical trial program working with institutional Human Research Ethics Departments.

She has had long experience in the management of Freedom of Information processes in the public hospital setting.

From a medico-legal perspective Claudia has direct experience in all aspects of health law advice and has a special interest in end of life decision making.

Claudia has experience and extensive knowledge of coronial matters, a range of complaints and discrimination jurisdictions and has instructed in the Supreme Court in treatment related matters. Her experience makes her particularly sensitive to the need for practical and cost-efficient advice.
